limestone the frontage on some of the skyscrapers

Pure limestone is made of calcium carbonate. Lime stone is very ordinary and common sedimentary rock of biochemical origin. Mostly it is composed of the mineral calcite. But sometimes it is almost pure calcite but mostly limestone are full filled with lots of sand and other minerals so it is called dirty limestone’s.

Limestone dissolves in rainwater much easily than other rocks. Rainwater picks up a little carbon dioxide during its passage through the air, and that turns it into very weak acid. Calcite is vulnerable to acid.
Limestone is very useful stone and may be used in different forms like Driveways, Dry stone walls & Retaining walls etc. With limestone, we can make best of these places.

Some others uses of limestone are-

  • Beer stone was also well-accepted form of limestone that were used for medieval buildings
  • Using in cement and mortar
  • Limestone is also using in toothpaste, paper, plastics, paint, tiles, and others materials as both pigment and cheap filler
  • Used for glass making
  •  Pulverized limestone is used as a soil conditioner to offset acid soil conditions
  • Limestone is also used for the solid base for many roads
  • Limestone is quarried for roadbeds; building and other landscape building, and cement manufacture
  • It also works as filler into various products like toothpaste and paints in order to fill chemicals
  • Producer of quicklime and slaked lime
  • Ground stabilization and land drainage.

Limestone, we can get easily everywhere and it is easy to cut into the desired shapes. It is so much durable and long lasting for use.
